Angraecum fragrans

FAAM, or FAHAM, a species of orchid, Angraecum fragrans, (syn. Jumellea fragrans) found in Madagascar. The leaves of the plant contain the essential oil coumarin and have a pleasant odor. In France the leaves are sometimes used as a substitute for Chinese tea, and in Mauritius an infusion of the leaves is used as a cure for tuberculosis and as stomachic. The flower is greenish-white with a clam shaped lip and the long spur that is characteristic of the whole genus.
